Change is afoot in the payments world. The U.S. is in the midst of launching its first new payments rail since ACH in the 1970s, and this new real-time payment (RTP) rail (courtesy of The Clearing House) has the potential to significantly disrupt payments as we know it. One major area of impact is the card payments rails run by Visa, MasterCard, et al.
This emergence of RTP begs the question—what will happen to these card rails? While the companies supporting these rails (e.g. Visa, MasterCard) will certainly continue to exist, the future of these rails is all but certain. Come join us on Tuesday, September 11th for a live debate! We will be recruiting two teams to foster a broad debate, each team led by a team captain who will be responsible for building their team. This will be highly interactive and is open to all our members!
To add a red herring, is there a chance that both RTP and the card networks lose to a blockchain-based scheme? Join the debate and find out!
If you are interested in joining the debate on stage, reach out to @finsidersCLT on Twitter or via their website. We are looking to drive a diverse debate and can only do that with you and all members.
